New FDA Approval: QLOSI

We’re excited to announce a major development in treating presbyopia, a common age-related condition affecting close object focus. The U.S. FDA has approved QLOSI™ (pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) 0.4%, developed by Orasis Pharmaceuticals, for presbyopia in adults. QLOSI FDA Approval will be very helpful for many patients.

What is QLOSI?

QLOSI is a prescription eye drop for daily or occasional use, up to twice per day. It improves near vision within 20 minutes, lasting up to 8 hours. QLOSI achieves this by inducing a “pinhole effect” through pupil modulation, enhancing the ability to focus on near objects. It doesn’t significantly impact distance or night vision, advancing presbyopia treatment.

QLOSI FDA Approval

The QLOSI FDA approval is based on Phase 3 NEAR-1 and NEAR-2 clinical trials with over 600 patients. The trials showed significant improvement in near visual acuity without losing distance visual acuity. Common mild side effects included headache and instillation site pain.
